The books in the Seaman's Eye
Series are offered as e-books. They will come as a PDF
file. If you have never read an e-book, you will be absolutely
amazed at the convenience of the style. They can be purchased
and received instantaneously. Enjoy reading the book on
your computer with wide pages, 20 or more inches, depending
on the size of your monitor. In general terms, e-books,
in whatever form, differ from traditional print in several
ways, the reader accesses and views text, images, charts,
maps, tables, and indexes on the computer screen.
The text citations and any captions for images,
tables, charts, maps,etc. are searchable by entering key
words into the program's search engine.
Various sections of the publication
(chapters, subsections, indexes, support materials) can
be accessed in many different sequences by electronic
links called hyperlinks. These are designated through
standard indicators - generally in bold, another color,
and/or underlining's called hot spots.
Generally the action required
to activate these links is to click on the indicated hot
spot with the mouse, using the pointer or finger symbol.
This causes the page view to jump automatically to another
section.
Various other features, including
pop-up notes, enlargeable images, data sets created on
the fly, have all become standard e-book features.
Every page and diagram is in
full vibrant color at no extra expense to any of us. By
simply moving your curser to the PDF border at the top
of the page to the spy glass symbol and clicking, it is
possible to type in any word in the book for the location
of the word in the text. Each use of the word and the
phrase in which it was used will appear with the page
location. By simply clicking on the particular use of
the word your text will be instantly moved to the location.
After referral simply click on the left arrow at the bottom
of the screen to return to the text you were formerly
reading. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader to open
the book, you may down load it from Adobe for no cost.
You may burn the book to a CD and take it to another computer
for further reading. If you decide to move it to hard
copy, it is possible to print the book on your own color
or black and white printer or send it to a print shop
for printing and binding.
Your advantages are many. Reading
an e-book once will cause you to want your entire library
on disk. Your entire library could then be placed in a
shoe box. New editions of the books may be obtained from
us at no charge.
